Creating rhythm, building community, and raising funds through recycled percussion instruments
Our Eco Beats Project was born from a high school student's innovative idea to bring communities together through the universal language of rhythm while addressing environmental concerns and supporting local causes.
What makes our Eco Beats unique is that all percussion instruments are handmade using recyclable materials - plastic containers and cardboard boxes. This sustainable approach not only reduces waste but also creates beautiful, functional instruments that produce surprisingly rich tones.
The biggest challenge was perfecting the art of transforming everyday containers into musical instruments. We experimented with various assembly techniques to achieve the right tone while ensuring the instruments are easy to handle and robust enough for regular use.
Through our Eco Beats events, we've successfully raised funds for various local community causes while bringing people together in a meaningful, musical experience that celebrates both creativity and environmental responsibility.
High School Senior & Eco Beats Founder
A passionate environmentalist and music enthusiast, Alex started this project as a way to combine their love for percussion with a commitment to sustainability. The idea came during a community service project where they noticed the abundance of plastic containers that could be repurposed.
